You Are The Revolution

HEY BEAUTIFUL!

“I’m not an activist, I’m just taking responsibility for my soul.”

This is what I heard a voice in my head telling me severally within the past days. And it awoke an urge within to have a conversation with my soul about it.

I'd love to ask you some questions:

What's the first feeling you get when reading the word "activist"?

What’s the first image coming to your mind?

And is it something you easily identify with?

I - for as long as I remember - didn't.

Why? Because the pictures that had programmed me about what activist participation should look like never truly felt inviting for me.

And it's not that I have ever been against the purpose and mission of activists - I LOVE HOW PEOPLE STAND UP FOR JUSTICE AND FREEDOM, it moves me deeply.

It just so many times didn't feel FOR ME to go to the streets, write posters, be loud and join open flash mobs or online challenges.

Yes, I know, I'm painting quite a cliché picture of activism here, but that's actually the point: Many people feel ashamed when not feeling like engaging in the commonly accepted, quite limited, pictures of activism. I've often been one of them.

Am I letting the collective down? Am I staying in a comfort zone, refusing to take responsibility for what counts in this world?

It's like wanting to join the party but being ashamed for not feeling like dancing or to dress up. A common feeling to those "who never truly fit it".

Is that shame familiar to you?

Then let me tell you this:

Not only is this shame NOT OF YOU, but of those accusing you for never really fitting into the boxes they prepared for you. But above all: This shame is dangerous!

It's dangerous because it might lead us to not showing up to the party at all. It might lead to a feeling of not-belonging. It might lead to numbness, passiveness and "This doesn't concern me anyways" attitudes.

AND YET WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP.

But: We need you to show up YOUR WAY.

Because the true revoluton lies in YOU BEING TRUTHFULLY YOU.

So, to everyone who's in self-doubt about how to "join the party", wondering how their presence in this revolution we're in can be of any importance even though they don't match any existing box:

This transformation needs more than loud people on the streets.

This revolution needs as well...:

  • ...those holding the space for others..

  • ...those grieving silently..

  • ...those breaking numbness by feeling the collective wound..

  • ...those keeping the frequency high..

  • ...those consoling others that are in despair..

  • ...the healers..

  • ...the guardians of divinity...

  • ...the vision-keepers...

  • ...the ones creating safety within...

Choosing your soul is a rebellious act. Choosing YOUR WAY is a rebellious act. Choosing your inner safety is a rebellious act.

It's activism. And we need it SO BAD.

Let go of the guilt.

Let go of the shame.

Now is YOUR TIME to show up for yourself and for the revolutionary nature YOUR soul is made of.

It's crucial.

Because we can't afford shame leading into passiveness anymore.

We can't afford senses of "I don't belong here" that lead into "this revolution doesn't concern me".

We can't afford numbness, leading into blindness.

We can't afford missing the unique gift that your soul bares for this times, for us, for the world.

THANK YOU FOR SHOWING UP.

You are the revolution. Own it.

THANK YOU.

Oh, and before I go. Want to know what came out of my conversation with my soul? This:

"I'm not an activist. I'm just taking responsibility for my soul."

Need some self-care for the revolutionary you are?

I can't wait to see you in my LIVE INTUITIVE PRACTICE on Monday on "SELF-CARE WITHIN A REVOLUTION"!

Love, Jana
